Touching the North
Explore the history, enjoy nature. Visit Garni, the only Greco-Roman style colonnaded pagan temple in post-Soviet countries, see Geghard (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) “the monastery of the spear”, partially carved out of the adjacent rock, visit Lake Sevan the largest freshwater lake in the Caucasus that lies at an altitude of 1900 m above sea level, holding the 1/6 part of Armenia. The next spot on the day’s itinerary is Sevanavank Monastery, yet another historical jewel nestling on the Sevan Peninsula. And lastly, see Tsaghkadzor, “the valley of flowers”, a beautiful mountainous resort town existing as a settlement since the middle of the III millennium BC.
